Photos of Clavius aiming to make a simple comparison of quality of photos with two different cameras .

The first was used to Qhy 5L colored with a filter of 742 Astronomik IR Pass . The second was used to IMG OH monochrome IR Pass filter with a 685

One can say that the pictures were almost equivalent despite Qhy have been used with slight disadvantage because the picture made with her beyond the moon be lower higher magnification was used due to the pixel size is smaller.

To Lunar I even consider that Qhy 5L takes an advantage due to the frame size 1280 X 960 640 X 480 against the IMG OH , this allowed capture Clavius in a while just taking in the IMG I had to do two takes and join immerse yourself using them to form a mosaic as a single exposure does not cover the entire crater .

So I think if the idea was to buy a camera to photograph more lunar I would recommend Qhy 5L monochrome no doubt ! Because it would take advantage on frame size and price 25 % lower than the IMG OH .

Now ... if things do photography planetary aims in regions outside the visible spectrum IMG OH has to be taken into account due to the high quantum efficiency mainly in IR .

So you can see that choosing even a simple camera for lunar and planetary photography is something that needs to be well thought out !

I hope colleagues will not notice the poor quality of the photos for comparison but to me this time and difficult to get really good pictures due to strong winds always present in the deceased .

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
